Interior Defensive Line

Another notable player set to hit free agency is longtime defensive tackle, Michael Brockers. Brockers was drafted 14th overall by the Rams back in 2012 and has spent 8 years playing some solid football for the team.

While he has never been a pro-bowler, Brockers specializes in controlling the run game and has been a great compliment to what Aaron Donald provides on the other side. I could easily see the Los Angeles Rams bringing Brockers back on a short-term deal, but even so, the defense doesn’t have much depth on that unit and I think they should look to add some more young talent in the draft this offseason.

There is a lot of interior defensive line talent in the 2020 NFL Draft class and there should be some solid names still available around the Rams first two selections at 52 and 84. Although the Rams did part ways with Wade Phillips, the defensive scheme should be pretty similar, as the team hired Brandon Staley to replace him. Staley has a long history of coaching units within a 3-4 defense, so look for the team to look for guys that can fit the 3-tech and 5-tech roles.

Adding a guy that can contribute in the run game, as well as create interior pressure to help out Aaron Donald, could be huge for LA in 2020.
