Offensive Line

One of the keys to the Los Angeles Rams success back in 2018 was the play of their offensive line. They gave quarterback Jared Goff time to throw and opened up run lanes that helped Todd Gurley receive MVP votes in 2017 and 2018.

Unfortunately, 2019 did not produce the same level of play for the O-line and the offense was hurt because of it. While a lot of that can be attributed to injury issues, the Rams would be wise to add talent across the board on that unit.

The team’s left tackle, Andrew Whitworth, is one of the oldest players in the NFL today and his contract happens to be up this offseason. While it has been reported that he wants to return with LA for another potential Super Bowl run, the Rams should put a lot of emphasis on finding their left tackle of the future in the draft.

Center is another spot on that offensive line that needs some help, as current starter Austin Blythe is also set to become a free agent when the new league year arrives in March. Blythe started nearly every game in 2019, bouncing around from guard to center, showing valuable versatility that could lead to a new deal with the team. However, if the Rams decide not to bring him back, expect them to take advantage of a good group of centers in the 2020 NFL Draft.
