Detroit Lions 7-round 2020 NFL mock draft: Revitalizing the defense
By Jason Truitt
Rebuilding the Detroit Lions with a complete seven-round 2020 NFL mock draft.
The Detroit Lions’ 2019 season was an unforgettable roller coaster ride that was headed to the dreadful land of 12 losses. Oh, and a tie. The team peaked extremely early in the season with a few nice wins, but things really just got worst from there and the Detroit Lions lost nine straight games to close the season. Eventually choking on twelve leads.
To add insult to injury, quarterback Matthew Stafford was put on IR, ending his season. Newcomers with high expectations such as Jermaine Kearse and Mike Daniels also joined their quarterback on the injured-reserve list.
The defense was terrible and lacked on all levels. Even star players such as Damon Harrison and Darius Slay both displayed the worst seasons of their careers. The defense allowed an atrocious 400 yards per game average, ranking 31st overall.
Things are just not looking good for the Detroit Lions right now. However, that is all set to change this offseason. Starting with free agency and then the 2020 NFL Draft. Head coach Matt Patricia is on the hot seat entering the season and if he wants to keep his job than he’ll have to capitalize on nearly every roster move he makes. It would be ideal to make most of those moves on the defense.
Luckily for Detroit, their offense obtains many quality pieces and is only in need of minor readjustments and additions. However, things are vastly different on the opposite side of the ball. It’s critical the Detroit Lions focus on defense in the 2020 NFL Draft. Here, we focus on the Lions’ defense in this seven-round 2020 NFL mock draft.
