We talked earlier about the Raiders possibly going to with a value signing at the linebacker position. Signing a guy like Ragland for cheap and also attacking their linebacker need in the draft is a path of attack that I like for this team. However, if they decide to be aggressive and spend big at the linebacker position, Cory Littleton is undoubtedly a free agent who makes sense for the team.

Littleton is a fantastic linebacker who fits the modern NFL extremely well. He is incredibly quick, rangy and athletic at the linebacker position, showing fantastic playmaking ability at all times.

Littleton shows legitimate sideline-to-sideline speed, ranging around and making plays all over the field. He is also an extremely instinctive player who always seems to put himself in the right position.

Most importantly, Littleton is one of the best coverage linebackers in the entire NFL. He is a tremendous man-to-man defender who can match-up against most tight ends and running backs and can even hold his own against some slot receivers. Littleton is also a strong short zone defender who reads the quarterback well and shows good ball skills.

When it comes down to it, this one is simple. The Las Vegas Raiders have a massive need at off-ball linebacker and Littleton is one of the best off-ball linebackers in the NFL. If they are willing to spend the big money that will be needed to bring him in, the fit is obvious.
