RB. Memphis. Antonio Gibson. 5. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player. 858

The Houston Texans relied heavily on Carlos Hyde at the running back position in 2019 and while he was solid, this is an obvious area that they can look to improve. I would expect them to attack the position in free agency, but this is a nice running back class where you can find some value late. With their fifth-round selection, the Texans take a shot on some upside at the position, bringing in Antonio Gibson out of Memphis.

Gibson is listed as a running back and undoubtedly has plenty of promise at the position, but in college, Gibson also played a lot of slot receiver. He is an extremely talented player who can make an offensive impact in a variety of ways.

Gibson’s raw speed and acceleration are incredibly obvious on tape. Whenever he gets the ball in his hands, he is a threat to take it to the house. Gibson also shows solid short-area quickness and works through traffic well. He also shows some nice power when finishing runs and impressive contact balance.

I like Gibson as a do it all player at the next level. He can make plays as a runner, receiver and returner. More than anything, Gibson’s speed is a real asset and the Texans should strongly consider him in this range.

Scouting Report. IOL. South Carolina. player. 850. Pick Analysis. Donell Stanley. 7

We talked about the Texans’ lack of depth on the offensive line earlier and they continue to address the situation here. Donell Stanley played both center and guard at South Carolina. He is a big and powerful man who also shows some nice quickness off of the ball. The Houston Texans need more offensive linemen who can come in and provide stability in a pinch. Stanley fits the bill.
