Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Wide Receiver. Henry Ruggs III. Alabama. 8. player. 32

Here’s the first real surprise of this 2020 NFL Draft scenario! The Arizona Cardinals should be set at quarterback going forward with Kyler Murray, and have put together a good offense with head coach Kliff Kingsbury at the helm.

The Cardinals have plenty of needs to address here in the draft, most notably on the offensive line. However, with the talent at receiver in this class, it may be too tempting for Kingsbury to convince Steve Keim to get an elite playmaker for the offense, and here, the Cardinals select Henry Ruggs III.

Ruggs has the game-breaking speed that teams are coveting nowadays. His speed will be on full display at the scouting combine, and it’s likely he will run a 40-yard dash in under 4.3 seconds. That time may vault him over CeeDee Lamb and Jerry Jeudy for some teams.

Ruggs brings plenty to the table aside from his speed. He has very good route running prowess, especially on in-breaking routes and double moves, accelerating really quickly off his plant foot. He uses his speed very well, taking advantage of corners who flip their hips early on in the route. Ruggs has also shown the ability to win in contested spots. Adding him to Arizona gives Murray a great vertical threat with the ability to take any play to the house.
