2020 NFL Draft: Henry Ruggs goes top 10 in first-round NFL mock draft
Speaking of teams in a new era, the Carolina Panthers hired Baylor head coach Matt Rhule to take over after firing Ron Rivera in the middle of the 2019 season. Rhule brought in LSU passing game coordinator Joe Brady, an excellent addition, and with the Rhule era underway, it’s expected they take a quarterback, right?
Eh, not so fast. Rhule signed to a long term deal to rebuild this franchise, and that starts with drafting well being patient at the quarterback position. Cam Newton can return in 2020 and prove he’s still their guy, and if not, they can start looking in 2021. For now, let’s build this team around Newton.
The offensive line still has holes, especially with Darryl Williams set for free agency. It’s unclear if Greg Little is the answer, but either way, it’s smart to select Jedrick Wills here. Wills is the top tackle in the 2020 NFL Draft class according to many analysts, and for good reason.
His footwork is unmatched in this class, especially when he shows how easy it is for him to recover laterally. Wills also has plenty of strength to move defenders off their spot. He can play right tackle right away with Little on the left.
