31. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Offensive Tackle. 4. Iowa. Tristan Wirfs. player

The New York Giants made the 2019 NFL Draft extremely interesting with their selection of Daniel Jones at number six overall. Jones has some things to clean up (turnovers especially), but Dave Gettleman and company believe they have their franchise quarterback in the building, along with a supremely talented running back in Saquon Barkley.

Something the Giants don’t have at the moment is a strong enough offensive line to keep Jones upright and open up holes for Barkley in the run game. The good news is that the 2020 NFL Draft possesses a ton of top talent at offensive tackle, and it’s likely the Giants get their pick of the litter at the fourth spot.

Usually, you’d see Jedrick Wills here, as he’s become (mostly) the consensus top tackle in the class. However, in this mock, the Giants change it up and select Tristan Wirfs out of Iowa. Wirfs has good lower body strength and often wins with a strong initial punch at the point of attack. He also has great mobility and the versatility to play both tackle spots.

Some analysts see Wirfs as more of an offensive guard, but here, Gettleman makes him the right tackle on day one.
