2020 NFL Draft: Henry Ruggs goes top 10 in first-round NFL mock draft
We are nearing the end of this mock draft, and now the San Francisco 49ers are on the clock. The Niners were ever so close to hoisting the Lombardi Trophy before the floodgates opened on defense, and they fell victim to yet another Kansas City Chiefs comeback. The players and fans are likely still getting over the loss, but San Francisco is well-positioned to make more runs at a Super Bowl.
They have just a few needs to address in the 2020 NFL Draft, and the 49ers are likely a team that will trade out on draft day, especially since they don’t have a pick after this until round five at the moment. For now though, they’ll stick with this selection.
The secondary is likely the weakest unit at the moment. Richard Sherman is getting up there in age, and the safety spot could use some work with Jimmie Ward slated to hit free agency.
Grant Delpit had a bit of an underwhelming season in 2019, especially from a tackling perspective, and it’s hurt his 2020 NFL Draft stock. He did clean it up in the playoff, but making plays near the line of scrimmage isn’t his thing. Delpit lines up best deep where he can affect the game with his range and ball-hawking ability.
