Ohio State. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Edge. 58. Chase Young. 2. player

While the first pick in the 2020 NFL Draft is basically set in stone, the same can’t really be said of the second overall pick. The Washington Redskins made changes at general manager and head coach after the season, hiring Ron Rivera after he was fired from the Carolina Panthers.

Rivera and company could decide that Dwayne Haskins isn’t the future and start over at quarterback, but that feels unlikely. They could also trade out of the pick with a team moving up for a quarterback. For now, let’s assume they stay here and make a selection.

The defensive line is one of the bright spots on this team right now, and the Redskins moved up 20 picks to select edge rusher Montez Sweat in the first round back in 2019. Combine that with Jonathan Allen, Da’Ron Payne, and Ryan Kerrigan, and the front four looks great for the future.

Jeffrey Okudah could likely be in the running here, but with Kerrigan a free agent after 2020, Washington goes edge and best player available by taking Chase Young. Young is an athletic pass rusher who converts speed to power with ease and could push for double-digit sacks in his rookie season. It’s tough to pass on that level of talent, and Washington doesn’t here.
