2020 NFL Draft: Henry Ruggs goes top 10 in first-round NFL mock draft
Most mock drafts have the New Orleans Saints going wide receiver or quarterback in the first round, and it’s understandable why. Both Drew Brees and Teddy Bridgewater are free agents, and it’s still up in the air whether or not Brees returns. Head coach Sean Payton has put his stamp of approval on Taysom Hill, who has made some big plays for the Saints in his career, but it’s likely smoke to get a team to bite.
Let’s assume one of Brees and Bridgewater returns to the Saints. With Jared Cook and Michael Thomas in house, it’s not necessary to reach at wide receiver here.
The one need analysts aren’t talking enough about is the linebacker position. All four linebackers who got significant playing time in 2019 will be free agents after the 2020 season. It’s now or never for this roster to get a second Super Bowl title, so Patrick Queen is the pick.
Queen was a late riser on 2020 NFL Draft boards and fell into favor based on his performances in the playoff games. He has good quickness and is a physical finisher when he makes plays downhill. Queen is also good in coverage, something the Saints could really use.
