2020 NFL Draft: Henry Ruggs goes top 10 in first-round NFL mock draft
What an uncharacteristic season for the New England Patriots. No one suspected they’d be picking this high in the 2020 NFL Draft, but it just wasn’t their year. The offense stalled without Rob Gronkowski, and outside of Julian Edelman and James White, their pass catchers couldn’t separate. Couple that with a defense susceptible to the run, and we have the issue for this team.
The Patriots drafted N’Keal Harry in the first round in 2019, and it wouldn’t be crazy to see it happen again after the season they had on offense. However, there’s absolutely no way they pass up on a guy like Derrick Brown if he’s available.
Brown put on a show during the 2019 season and demolished everyone in his path. He consistently shows a quick first step out of his stance and has active hands and quickness to get around or through offensive linemen with ease. He made big plays in the backfield in key spots all season long.
Brown also can win as a pass rusher with good quickness and a strong lower half. His pad level isn’t always the best, mostly because he knows he can dominate. Brown could turn into an All-Pro under the tutelage of Bill Belichick and immediately beef up the run defense.
