2020 NFL Draft: Henry Ruggs goes top 10 in first-round NFL mock draft
The New York Jets put together a strong second half of 2019 to finish a respectable 7-9 under head coach Adam Gase. Unfortunately for Jets fans, that means Gase will be around for another season. The good news is that Joe Douglas is their general manager and he did well in Philadelphia.
The free-agent crop will be beneficial for this team and be able to fill some of their more glaring needs. One of those needs that will be tough to find is offensive tackle. Protecting quarterback Sam Darnold will be essential going forward, and the Jets have an offensive tackle staring them in the face at number 11 overall.
Andrew Thomas came into the season as the leader in the clubhouse at tackle for the 2020 NFL Draft but has been overtaken by some others later in the process. It’s possible that we’ve reached the point where over-scouting becomes a thing, so Thomas may be getting a raw deal.
Thomas has a very good initial punch and great grip strength, along with being a force in the run game. Thomas is also solid in pass protection, showing enough quickness to handle speed rushers. He will be solid protecting Darnold’s blindside at the next level.
