2020 NFL Draft: Huge trades shake up two-round mock draft
At this point, the undisputed top overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft is LSU quarterback Joe Burrow.
Despite the fact that Oregon Ducks quarterback Justin Herbert had the chance to have a week-long interview with the Bengals’ staff in Mobile at the Senior Bowl (and was impressive, might I add), Burrow was simply too good this past year for LSU to pass up on.
As a matter of fact, the season he put together in 2019 may be the best for any quarterback in the history of college football.
His dominance was not simply because of the offense LSU was running or the talent around him, either. Burrow was a magician in the pocket, escaping pressure as naturally and instinctively as any young quarterback I have evaluated in almost 10 years of covering the NFL Draft.
Burrow’s arm talent is not going to remind anyone of Josh Allen, but that doesn’t matter. His velocity is where it needs to be and he has a full arsenal of pitches, understanding when to put enough behind throws as well as when to pull the string and put some air under the ball.
His placement is fantastic. His rhythm is outstanding. Burrow is also an underrated athlete who did a lot more this past year with his legs than people who only saw him during the end-of-season run for LSU probably understand.
This pick is a no-brainer.
