Pick Analysis. Wisconsin. 23. 15. Scouting Report. RB. Jonathan Taylor. player

Starting RBs: Alvin Kamara, Latavius Murray

Even after a record-breaking year at Wisconsin, many still consider Jonathan Taylor to be a second-round selection at best. This selection would likely not come at the No. 24 overall pick, but instead could be an option if New Orleans sees the plethora of talent in the second round of this loaded 2020 NFL draft class and trades down.

After a heavy downturn in production as a sole feature back in New Orleans, Alvin Kamara clearly needs help from a complementing running back. Before the departure of Mark Ingram to the Baltimore Ravens, Kamara’s 2018 season had 194 rushing attempts for 883 yards and 14 touchdowns, as well as 81 receptions for 709 yards and four touchdowns.

This downturn in production from 2018 to 2019 can not be ignored, and the variable between the two seasons was the absence of a complementing power back.

Jonathan Taylor excelled at Wisconsin in an old-school power-run system that relied on the I-formation and has produced numerous NFL successes such as Melvin Gordon and James White. Another power back to pair alongside Kamara would be the solution to his 2019 woes and could create a new method of offensive production for Sean Payton and the New Orleans Saints in the 2020 season.
