Scouting Report. player. 15. Pick Analysis. DT. South Carolina. Javon Kinlaw. 3

Starting DTs: Sheldon Rankins, Malcom Brown

After one of the most impressive senior bowl performances, Javon Kinlaw has shot up draft boards as deserved after an astounding season with the Gamecocks. Kinlaw is a powerful, lean 315-pound monster from the three-technique and has the ability to be effective at the one and five-techniques as well.

After another subpar season from previous first-round defensive end Marcus Davenport, New Orleans needs to add another legitimate pass-rusher alongside current veteran stud Cameron Jordan.

With a combination of explosive burst off of the snap as well as a terrifying amount of brute force, Kinlaw is one of the best bullrush pass-rushers to come out of the draft in a very long time. With his 6-foot-5 frame, Kinlaw is able to out-reach offensive guards and get into the chest of the blocker before they can get out of their stance, driving them into the backfield and using respectable technique to get to the outside hip of the blocker.

Complemented alongside two already legitimate threats on the interior of this New Orleans 4-3 defense, offensive lines should be terrified at the possibility of both Cameron Jordan and Javon Kinlaw attacking the interior of the offensive line on stunts and twists.
