NFL Mocks Podcast: XFL is good, fixing the Atlanta Falcons

This edition of the NFL Mocks podcast features fixing the Atlanta Falcons and a little XFL talk.

This week’s podcast starts out with a little recap of the XFL debut, which definitely got hype heading into Week 1. The Defenders and Battlehawks are both 1-0 and are on a collision course to meet in the playoffs of course. With replay on point, interviews right after plays, and a decent fan base, it could be here to stay.

Also, could Amari Cooper return to the Raiders? It’s a possibility. Also, the Saints placing a first-round tender on Taysom Hill might be Sean Payton playing chess, especially if they can get a first-round pick out of it.

Then the guys get into fixing the Atlanta Falcons (12:20), a team that reached the Super Bowl just three seasons ago and have now found themselves in the purgatory that is a .500 football team. One key for them will be to find players to cut to free up some space. Devonta Freeman and Allen Bailey are two names to watch. Bringing back Austin Hooper was a priority for the guys, and they made it happen.

The guys then move on to their seven-round mock drafts for the Falcons (22:50). Jake addresses edge and corner in the first two rounds, and Nate does so as well, just in a flip-flopped order. Jake beefs up the defensive line with the second of two second-round picks, while Nate gets a new running back for Atlanta. In the third round, Nate gets Jake’s second-round pick. Comment on which host did the best for Atlanta!

Finally, it’s question time! The guys talk soda rankings, whether or not a running back in the first round is a good idea, and whether Tristan Wirfs is the top tackle in the class.
