Offensive Guard: Joe Thuney (New England Patriots) Age 27

The New York Jets desperately need to overhaul the offensive line. There’s a good chance that New York will have five new starters on it’s line next season. Thuney isn’t the top free agent offensive guard available, but he’s darn close.

In 2019 Thuney played 1,140 snaps (99 percent) and did not commit a single penalty. In fact he’s committed only 18 penalties in 4,507 career snaps. He also allowed only one sack in 2019, something the New York Jets should greatly value.

Thuney will figure to garner top money at his position, however Joe Douglas should do whatever it takes to get him in Gotham Green.

Offensive Tackle: Jack Conklin (Tennessee Titans) Age 26

(Market value: $15M PER)

As I have mentioned numerous times now the New York Jets need a ton of help at offensive line. Sam Darnold has shown to have loads of potential when given enough time to throw. Conklin is not a left tackle, but he is one of the best right tackles in the league. Not to mention New York also has a big name at running back and Conklin could be a big help clearing lanes for Le’Veon Bell.

Conklin did have some penalties called against him in 2019 with four holding calls and three pre-snap penalties/false starts. He also had one declined penalty totaling eight infractions for the season. Sliding Conklin next to Thuney could limit some of those penalties, however.

Conklin played in 3,513 snaps (94 percent) in 2019. He played in all 16 games plus three games in the postseason. Adding Thuney and Conklin to the right side of the line could do wonders for Bell and the New York Jets ground game. If Le’Veon can take off in 2020 that could mean a big year for Darnold.
