The New York Jets need to upgrade multiple positions this offseason on the offensive line as well as others. Lets take a look at some free agent targets.

Joe Douglas, who was hired in June to become the general manager of the New York Jets, has a ton of work to do this offseason.

When Douglas first took the job he stated that him and his team would be very active in multiple areas to improve the roster.

We’ll see just how active Douglas will be when free agency hits, as he will have just over $50 million to spend. However, with some cap casualties that number can grow up to $80 million in available funds.

The New York Jets also have some free agents of their own they’ll like to re-sign and a possible big contract extension for their best player, safety Jamal Adams.

Douglas should look heavy into the offensive lineman in free agency. This could allow him to address other needs at the top of the 2020 NFL Draft. Positions that lack depth like cornerback, pass rusher, running back and wide receiver could be upgraded in free agency as well as the draft.

This free agency class is particularly deep at three key positions of need for the New York Jets. Offensive line, pass rusher and cornerback are all positions that Douglas can attack in free agency with his abundance of cap space. The only question is if he could spend that money wisely, something his predecessors weren’t able to do.
