Alabama. 5. player. 59. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Quarterback. Tua Tagovailoa

It’s officially quarterback o’clock in the 2020 NFL Draft. Barring a trade up to three, this is the spot where quarterbacks will likely begin flying off the board. After the Bengals selection of Joe Burrow at one, the Dolphins are in the catbird seat with their choice of the remaining QB options towards the top of this draft.

Although it’s not the pick that I would make, all signs point (and have been pointing) to Tua Tagovailoa taking his talents to South Beach to join the Miami Dolphins. Tua’s family has expressed their interest in the QB playing in Miami and the Dolphins have been the team linked to Tagovailoa most often in mock drafts.

The Dolphins have a ton of capital in the 2020 NFL Draft and could really make a splash. Whether that is moving up to secure their guy or bringing in multiple very talented players to help their team, Miami is in a very good spot for their rebuild. If they believe that they can bring in the necessary pieces to keep Tua healthy and surround him with enough talent for the team to succeed, I could see them going all-in on the Crimson Tide southpaw.

There is no doubt that Tua has great potential at the next level. He is extremely smart, making good decisions pre-snap and with the ball in his hand. He has the ability to make pretty much every throw on the field and does so with great touch. He has enough zip to fit the ball into tight windows and is a very effective runner when he takes off.

His hip injury and prior problems staying on the field may turn some teams off, but if they get word that Tua is healthy, I would be shocked if he is not a top-five pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Quarterback. Oregon. 6. player. 13. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Justin Herbert

Justin Herbert is one of my favorite players in the 2020 NFL Draft. Herbert is a very well-rounded quarterback, an extremely smart football player, a fantastic leader and a real winner coming out of Oregon.

After moving on from Philip Rivers already this offseason, the Los Angeles Chargers will need a shiny new quarterback to play in their shiny new stadium. With a very talented roster that vastly underperformed this season, the Chargers will likely be looking for a young quarterback that they feel can step in and compete right away, or they may require a veteran “bridge” QB to help keep the team afloat while their younger option develops.

I really believe that as a senior and given his experience at Oregon, Herbert is ready to come in and help a team like the Chargers compete for a playoff spot right away. With his football IQ, he is capable of making smart decisions to take care of the ball, which is something the Chargers struggled to do in 2019.

Furthermore, Herbert has an incredible arm. He has outstanding arm strength to fit the ball into tight windows and to drive the ball down the field. He has great touch across the field and throws with very good anticipation. He is also a very good runner and nearly led Oregon to the College Football Playoff.

As a leader, a thrower, a runner and a football mind, Justin Herbert excels. He could have been the top pick in the draft last season but opted to return to school. He certainly didn’t hurt his case, putting in another solid season, impressing at the Senior Bowl and proving himself as a top option for QB-needy teams at the top of the 2020 NFL Draft.
