2020 NFL Draft: Saints make big move in 2020 NFL mock draft with trades
Xavier McKinney fits perfectly for the Minnesota Vikings if they lose Anthony Harris in free agency. McKinney is a true ball-hawking free safety who does just about everything well on the defensive side of the football. He is one of my favorite prospects in the 2020 NFL Draft and could rise up the board by the time April rolls around.
95 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, three interceptions, one touchdown, five pass deflections and four forced fumbles is one well-rounded stat line. Paired with Harrison Smith, the duo could become the best safety tandem in the league.
Yetur Gross-Matos is a guy that has been all over the board. Some had him as high as a top 12 prospect while some really don’t have him coming off the board until the second or even third round.
I would lean towards the higher end of that spectrum for Gross-Matos. I really like his potential at the next level with proven production as a pass rusher and run defender. While he isn’t the most dynamic rusher, Gross-Matos totaled 17 sacks, 34.5 tackles for loss and 94 tackles in his last two years at Penn State. Given some time to develop his arsenal of moves, Gross-Matos could be a high-end player at the next level.
traded from Seattle Seahawks
Trade number two in this 2020 NFL Draft scenario and another one for a quarterback. Again, it’s been rumored that the Buccaneers really like Jacob Eason and jump up back into the first round ahead of the Tennessee Titans and to secure that extra year on the QB’s contract.
Eason has a great arm, similar to Jordan Love. He also shows outstanding touch on his deep ball, something that is utilized often in Bruce Arians’ offense. Eason is still very raw and inconsistent, in my opinion, so a year or two behind a guy like Philip Rivers and with Arians as a mentor, Eason could ease into a starting role and develop as a player before taking over the reins of the franchise.
The Seattle Seahawks opt to move back here and acquire more draft capital. Seattle has quite a few needs that they could address here, but acquiring more picks allows them to bring in quality guys at multiple spots. And let’s be honest, the Seahawks recent first-round picks have not panned out too well, so this could be for the best.
Justin Jefferson isn’t a flashy receiver. He’s not super fast and doesn’t jump out of the building, but he gets open and catches the football. He runs very solid routes and has very sticky hands. The Baltimore Ravens went with a speedy deep threat in the first round last year, and now they get a bigger, reliable target that can be a security blanket across the field for Lamar Jackson.
