2020 NFL Draft: Saints make big move in 2020 NFL mock draft with trades
There are two clear needs for the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason. Cornerbacks and wide receivers. Philly might have opted for the former if the last player picked was still available, but at this point, Tee Higgins is a better option than any corner.
There are a lot of evaluators who are really low on Higgins. They don’t like his route tree and thin frame and question his ability to make an impact at the next level. But I love his tall frame, athletic ability, catch radius and sticky hands. He was very productive for Clemson and I think he could be a very good addition to the Eagles offense.
The heart-broken Buffalo Bills just miss out on the big-body jump ball receiver that they so badly need. I like Higgins’ fit with Buffalo the best of any receiver/team combination, but Laviska Shenault Jr. is certainly not a bad consolation prize.
Shenault is a versatile, explosive playmaker who can affect the game in a multitude of ways. Lining up at running back, tight end, wildcat quarterback, slot receiver and outside receiver for the Buffaloes, Shenault could have a similar impact in Buffalo.
While he can contribute in many different ways Shenault is no gimmick. He has the makings of a legit NFL wide receiver. He is a sound route runner with good hands and a great catch radius. He is outstanding with the ball in his hands and would be a great asset for the Bills offense.
Grant Delpit was once viewed as a potential top 10 or even five pick by some. Now there is no lock that he even goes in the first round. That is likely due to some open field tackling issues and questionable decision making on some plays here and there, but the talent is certainly there.
Delpit is a very versatile player who can roam deep in a zone, cover wide receivers or tight ends man-to-man or play around the line of scrimmage like a linebacker. He was voted the best defensive back in the nation in 2019 and could definitely contribute for years to come on an already impressive New England Patriots defensive unit.
traded from New Orleans Saints
The LAS VEGAS Raiders trade down, acquire some additional future draft capital and still get the guy that they likely would have taken at 19. The Raiders really need some help at linebacker, whether they decide to employ Votaze Burfict going forward or not.
Patrick Queen is a lightning-fast backer who can really range sideline-to-sideline in a flash. He’s very smart and instinctual and does well enough in pass coverage to play all three downs. He isn’t the biggest, most physical player but he has a knack for finding the football and making a play.
