Despite holding an impressive record of 11-5 during their 2019 season, the Seattle Seahawks have had a rough time in terms of their defensive performance. Which is why they need to focus on rebuilding their defensive team during the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Seattle Seahawks are considered one of the best teams in the NFC. As they garnered a season record of 11-5 in 2019, the Seahawks were praised heavily for their offensive performance. From offensive players like Russell Wilson who’s had a stellar performance last season, the Seahawks has solidified themselves as a top-tier team in the NFL.

However, as much as their offense performed well, the Seahawks have struggled on the defensive side of the ball. A team that was once considered the most dominant defensive team in all the NFL, it’s clear the Seahawks have struggled in defense since the days of the “Legion of Boom.”

Their overall defensive production has significantly slipped in recent years, as they rank near the bottom in most team defense statistical categories. Specifically, in terms of their passing and rushing defense, the Seahawks are not where they used to be many years ago.

Facts like this are why the Seahawks organization needs to focus on rebuilding their defensive team this off-season. With the 2020 NFL Draft is on the horizon, it’s recommended that the Seahawks draft defensive players that may have the potential to perform well. Building a defensive team based on young and upcoming players is a wise move.

Garnering young players for the Seahawks defensive as they play along with veteran players like Bobby Wagner, the Seahawks could once again become the dominant defensive team they once were.

As the 2020 NFL Draft is coming up, it’s interesting to see what move the Seahawks organization will be making. With division rival and NFC champions San Fransico 49ers becoming one of the best teams in the NFL, it is going to be tough for Seattle to get back in the NFC West race. That being said, if they are going to do so, they must improve their stock of talent on the defensive side of the ball.
