New York Giants 7-Round 2020 NFL mock draft: A Dave Gettleman special
This New York Giants 2020 mock draft is one that Giants general manager Dave Gettleman would be proud of.
It was a disappointing 2019 season for the New York Giants, but part of that falls on the introduction of a new era in the Big Apple. After suffering two blowout losses at the beginning of the season, the Giants benched Eli Manning in favor of rookie quarterback Daniel Jones, who was selected sixth overall in the 2019 draft.
Jones led the Giants to an incredible comeback win over the Bucs in his first start, then mustered a win over the hapless Washington Redskins in week four.
There wasn’t much to celebrate after those two wins, as the Giants dropped 11 straight games into December. Jones struggled more and more as teams got tape on him, and he finished the season with 24 touchdowns and 23 total turnovers, not all of which were on him of course.
New York finished the season 4-12, which led to head coach Pat Shurmur being canned. On top of that, Manning announced he would retire.
So far this off-season, the New York Giants have made some interesting moves. They hired former Patriots special teams coach Joe Judge to be their new head coach and brought in former Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett to be their offensive coordinator.
With the coaching staff set, the page turns to free agency and the 2020 NFL Draft. They’ll have room to make moves in free agency, and surely bringing back Leonard Williams will be a priority. After that, it’s about building this team up in the trenches, something general manager Dave Gettleman would love to hear. Let’s see what they could do in this mock draft.
