Chicago Bears 7-round 2020 NFL mock draft: Filling key positions of need
The offensive line was an absolute mess for the Chicago Bears in 2019. They undoubtedly need to add some reliable interior offensive linemen this offseason, but this team cannot continue to ignore their offensive tackle situation.
Charles Leno and Bobby Massie have been starting at left and right tackle respectively for this team since 2016. Leno has been an adequate left tackle for the Bears throughout the years and was a Pro Bowl selection in 2019. However, Leno consistently struggled in 2019 and if that continues, they simply must look to replace him soon.
Right tackle Bobby Massie signed a four-year extension with the team last offseason and was decent in 2019. Massie is not a problem for the Bears at right tackle, but he is not a particularly strong starting offensive tackle either. The position could be upgraded if the right opportunity presented itself.
With the 50th overall pick of this 2020 NFL mock draft, the Bears find an offensive tackle who could potentially replace one of these mediocre options down-the-line.
Isaiah Wilson is a big and strong offensive tackle who consistently dominates at the point of attack. He has extremely long arms and he knows how to use them well. Wilson also anchors at an extremely high level.
He is not the most mobile offensive lineman in this draft class, but Wilson is an extremely hard worker who gets to his spot most of the time. Wilson is a talented offensive tackle prospect whose raw power makes him an exciting player to pay attention to in the 2020 NFL Draft.
If the Bears bring in Wilson, they could use him as a swing tackle during his rookie season and reassess where he is at next offseason. With a year of growth, I would bet that Wilson would be ready to come in and take on a full starting role for this team, likely replacing Massie at right tackle.
