Improving the Chicago Bears with a complete seven-round 2020 NFL mock draft.

Last offseason, the Chicago Bears were a team that appeared to be heading in the right direction. Led by a dominating defense and a productive offensive unit, the Bears cruised to an NFC North title in 2018 and were a missed field goal away from potentially making a deep playoff run.

What a difference a year makes as this past season, the Chicago Bears limped to an 8-8 record. Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky took a significant step back, which caused the offense to sputter throughout the year. The Bears defense was still strong in 2019, but they were not near as dominant as they were a season ago.

Make no mistake about it, this roster needs a lot of work. They have obvious needs on both sides of the ball and must add some impact players if they expect to become legitimately competitive again. Most importantly, the Bears need to figure out their quarterback situation.

Giving up on Trubisky this early in his career is rough, but he is clearly not the right guy to lead them into the future. Trubisky is an extremely inaccurate passer and looks completely lost on the field more often than not. Unfortunately for Chicago, they are not set up well to find a new franchise signal-caller this offseason. They are not exactly loaded with cap space and they do not have a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Addressing the quarterback position in the draft seems unlikely, but I imagine that this team will look to bring in a legitimate veteran option who can at least put some pressure on Trubisky. If the Cincinnati Bengals cut bait with Andy Dalton, he feels like the perfect target for the Bears. Someone like Marcus Mariota or Case Keenum could make some sense as well.

Chicago would be wise to attack the mid-tier quarterbacks on the open market and a guy who could save their season if Trubisky continues to struggle. Think of it similarly to what the Tennessee Titans did with Ryan Tannehill last offseason.

All of that being said, in this post, we are not going to focus on free agency. Instead, we are going seven rounds deep with the Chicago Bears in a complete 2020 NFL mock draft. Addressing their quarterback need in the draft will not be easy, but the Bears have plenty of other needs to take care of through the draft.

Without further ado, here is a complete seven-round 2020 NFL mock draft for the Chicago Bears.
