Post-Super Bowl three-round 2020 NFL Mock Draft: Eight QBs Taken
The Jets have a lot of needs. Their offensive line is lackluster with talent, so I took my next highest-graded offensive lineman for New York in this 2020 NFL Mock Draft. Tristan Wirfs played right tackle the majority of his career at Iowa but projects well to the left side as well as inside as a guard. It doesn’t matter where you play him, adding him to your offensive line makes you a whole lot more talented and will allow Sam Darnold and Le’Veon Bell to find more success in 2020.
The Raiders’ receiving core is poor. Tyrell Williams didn’t quite provide the explosiveness that was hoped and there isn’t much talent after that. Adding Jerry Jeudy will instantly provide a spark offensively. He can make life easier on Derek Carr with his ability to get open with ease. This is an easy selection in this 2020 NFL Mock Draft.
Javon Kinlaw showed that he should be in the conversation as the number one interior defensive lineman in this class throughout the week of the Senior Bowl. There aren’t many holes on this Colts team, so adding a playmaker on the interior like Kinlaw can provide a better pass-rush in the future. Jordan Love has been the favorite player to mock here, but I am not sold on him as a first-rounder. He has a long road of development ahead before his tools translate to success in the NFL.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers add one of the most fun prospects in this 2020 NFL Mock Draft: Mekhi Becton. One of the biggest needs for the Bucs is an offensive tackle and they are lucky to get a top-tier tackle prospect to fall to them at 14 overall. Becton beats his opponents with raw strength and aggression. He loves to impose his will on defenders by burying them in the ground. He can also move well for his size which makes him a top talent in this class.
This is the time of year that people begin overthinking prospects, and Henry Ruggs III is one of those prospects this year. Ruggs III is known for his absurd speed and the combine numbers will be huge for his draft stock. Some people, though, are convincing themselves that speed may be the only plus attribute that he has. His speed helps compliment the other parts of his game. It makes him be a plus route runner and a great run after the catch threat.
The Falcons have officially moved on from Vic Beasley and now need a pass-rusher on the edge. Some Falcons fans are scared that K’Lavon Chaisson is another Beasley because of their similar build, however, Chaisson brings a more nuanced and dynamic pass-rush ability than Beasley did coming out of Clemson. Also, Chaisson is an underrated run defender and is much more effective against the run than Vic Beasley ever was.
The Cowboys desperately need help on the back-end of their defense. Even after a disappointing 2019 season individually for Grant Delpit, he is still a talented prospect and is a steal at 17 overall in this 2020 NFL Mock Draft. The athleticism, size, and length he can bring to this Dallas defense is something they haven’t had in a long time.
Round 1, Pick 5: Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
The Dolphins got their quarterback of the future with Tua in their last selection in this 2020 NFL Mock Draft. Here, I decided to take the best player available for this team that needs talent on both sides of the ball. A.J. Epenesa is a strong pass-rusher that wins with strength and hand usage at the point of attack. He is a great run defender from the defensive end position and can contribute early for the Miami Dolphins.
Round 1, Pick 12: Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
Kenneth Murray plays with an aggressiveness that I am sure Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden will fall in love with. They reached last year on safety Jonathan Abram for a similar mindset and they now need to add athleticism at the linebacker position. Murray is my number three ranked linebacker prospect, but I think his playstyle and mentality are tailor-made for the Raiders organizations.
Round 1, Pick 9: CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma
This pick was received in the trade for Jalen Ramsey. With that trade, the Jags need a man coverage corner on the outside. C.J. Henderson is one of the best pure man coverage cornerbacks in this 2020 NFL Mock Draft. There are concerns about his tackling, but I think those concerns are overblown and he more than makes up for it with his stickiness in man coverage.
