Given their limited cap space barring any major releases or trades, veteran stong safeties Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Deon Bush are likely gone in Chicago. While they signed Kentrell Brice to a future deal, the Chicago Bears shouldn’t go into the 2020 season relying on him to play alongside Eddie Jackson. And aside from Brice, the depth at strong safety looks considerably thin overall.

The lack of true depth at the position could cause Chicago to spend an early Day 2 pick on the position despite their needs at tight end and on the offensive line. Even if they able to re-sign either Clinton-Dix or Bush, drafting a safety would still be a wise decision.

On Day 2, the Chicago Bears could look to target Brandon Jones of Texas, and while that may be a reach to some, the need to could outway the value. Additionally, if the Chicago Bears feel comfortable with the risk that comes with selecting a Division II player, they could look to add Lenoir Rhyne safety, Kyle Duggar. However, if they chose to wait until Day 3, then they could potentially look at Utah’s Julian Blackmon or Maryland’s Antoine Brooks.

Similarly, with the edge need from before, the Chicago Bears should look to add more help on the back-end in order to ensure their defense stays at its high caliber level.
