2020 NFL Draft: Predicting where the top QB prospects will land
We know that New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and Georgia head coach Kirby Smart have a good relationship, and considering the fork in the road the Patriots have reached with Tom Brady, it makes sense that this team would be in the market for a new quarterback.
The Patriots have taken guys who are not the most physically gifted players at the quarterback position in terms of overall arm strength or athleticism and made them into productive NFL starters, not just in New England but they’ve set them up for success elsewhere, also.
Jake Fromm may not be able to ask for a better situation than what the Patriots have right now. He could certainly sit behind Tom Brady if that’s what the situation calls for, but I think Fromm is equally capable of taking a team like the Patriots to the playoffs as a rookie in the NFL.
He’s a smart player at the position, executes an offense like Josh McDaniels will want to run already, and has shown an ability to take a veteran team far already with the Bulldogs.
Even with his physical limitations in terms of not having the strongest arm or the fastest 40-time, I think Fromm is a starting-caliber QB right away in the NFL for his understanding of pro concepts at the position, footwork, reading coverages, and everything else that comes with being an NFL QB that he displayed at Georgia.
I think Fromm is the perfect fit for New England in this draft.
