Oregon. Justin Herbert. player. 10. 13. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. QB

The Los Angeles Chargers are sticking with interim offensive coordinator Shane Steichen in 2020, and they’ll be doing it without Philip Rivers.

At least, that’s what it sounds like right now.

Rivers has relocated his family to Florida, and the Chargers appear poised to move on from their longtime starter.

Right now, LA has Tyrod Taylor in waiting as a bridge quarterback, but they could be an ideal landing spot in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft for Oregon’s Justin Herbert.

Herbert is a likeable guy, mild-mannered, and a very gifted all-around athlete. Although his processing leaves something to be desired at times, this is a guy who really came in and lit it up at the Senior Bowl and proves he belongs in the discussion among the top 10 picks of the draft, regardless of the supply and demand at the QB position in the NFL.

Steichen is obviously going to want to establish an identity on offense, and a high draft pick at QB like this might buy both he and Anthony Lynn some time.

The Chargers need to re-establish their identity as the franchise’s popularity and relevance seems to be nearing an all-time low.
