Running Back

The New York Jets seem to have a tough decision to make with star running back Le’Veon Bell. There have been rumors and speculation ever since Gase took control of the organization that he never wanted Bell and that he could ship him out the first chance he gets.

The biggest problem with that is the hefty price that comes along with Bell. Teams wouldn’t want to part with a high-end draft pick for Bell and his salary. The Jets could take on some money for a higher return, but it doesn’t make much sense. The Jets should hold onto Bell at least until he could work up his trade value next season.

Even if New York holds on to Bell they don’t have much depth behind him. Bilal Powell is a nice backup and has given a lot to this New York Jets organization. I would bring him back for another year but he does have an extensive injury history. The Jets could draft or sign a running back to pair with Bell and Powell. It would be smart if Douglas looked on Day 3 for a valued running back or he could target the second wave of free agency for a cheap backup.
