Browns 7-round 2020 mock draft: Kevin Stefanski gets revamped OL
Day Three Picks/Recap
4. Rashard Lawrence, DL, LSU
These mid-round picks for the Browns will be crucial. Not only is Lawrence the type of player who could crack their rotation as a rookie, but he’s also a leader on that LSU team and someone who can help establish the culture Andrew Berry and Kevin Stefanski want.
6. Shaquille Quarterman, LB, Miami (FL)
Another team captain pick, the Browns get a guy who has upside as a three-down linebacker and special teams player if his coverage skills continue to develop.
7. Kindle Vildor, CB, Georgia Southern
Vildor is a smaller school player with inside-outside versatility at cornerback and outstanding ball skills.
Recap
This draft class is certainly heavy — literally — on the offensive line. Between Becton, Wilson, and Biadasz, the Browns would be adding over 1,000 pounds to the line to protect Baker Mayfield and pave the way for Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, but it may come to that.
There’s no doubt about the fact that the Browns need to upgrade the offensive line, but they need to find the right guys to do it. This is a rebuilding project that was not over when everyone expected the Browns to compete for an NFC North title in 2019, and these picks represent the need to continue building off of that foundation that was really set starting in 2017 with Myles Garrett.
The offensive line has not necessarily been neglected, but the Browns need to identify a few guys in this deep class who can help them out right away.
