Pick Analysis. S. 852. player. Scouting Report. Minnesota. Antoine Winfield Jr.. 51

As things stand now, the San Francisco 49ers have their first-round selection, but then do not go on the clock again until the fifth-round. That is a massive gap between picks and unless they have a chance to snag a fantastic value player at a position of need, I do not expect the 49ers to be making that first-round selection. Instead, John Lynch and company will likely look to trade down and recoup some value.

In this mock draft, they trade their first-round pick (and a late seventh) to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a second and third-round selection (51st and 82nd overall). With the 51st overall pick, the San Francisco 49ers address the safety position by drafting Antoine Winfield Jr.

Winfield is an extremely quick and athletic safety prospect who has massive upside at the next level. He is a tremendous natural playmaker who has a great nose for the ball. Winfield is a tremendous single-high safety who can also handle man-to-man responsibilities if needed.

With Jimmie Ward set to hit free agency this offseason, the San Francisco 49ers could have a massive need at the free safety position. Winfield is a dynamic athlete on the back-end who can come in and be an immediate playmaker for this team at a major position of need.
