The San Francisco 49ers fell short of their ultimate goal, but they still have a loaded roster with a lot of long-term upside. See how they can improve this offseason in this 7-round 2020 NFL mock draft.

What an incredible season for the San Francisco 49ers. After going 4-18 in 2018, they completely turned things around this season and made a trip to the Super Bowl. While they did fall short of their ultimate goal, they were clearly one of the best teams in the NFL this season and are in a great position to improve going forward.

Kyle Shanahan is one of the best young coaches in the entire league and the front office, led by general manager John Lynch, has done an incredible job of building this roster. Shanahan and Lynch clearly have a fantastic working relationship and they will work hard to improve their already impressive group of players this offseason.

Unfortunately, the San Francisco 49ers are not exactly flush with cap space this offseason. According to OvertheCap.com, they will have a little less than $14 million to work with under the cap, the seventh-least of any team in the entire league. Do not expect the 49ers to be major players in free agency. This team does not need much, but a majority of the improvements that they do need this offseason will have to come through the 2020 NFL Draft.

Unfortunately, the 49ers are not exactly loaded with 2020 NFL draft capital either. San Francisco does have their first-round pick, which is now 31st overall, but they are currently without another selection until the fifth round. The 49ers do currently hold six picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, but five of those six picks will be made on the third day of the draft. I am not saying that they cannot improve through the draft, but their opportunities to do so will be limited.

In this post, we are going to dig deep into the 49ers’ offseason and put together a complete seven-round 2020 NFL mock draft. This is an extremely interesting team with few obvious needs, but there is always room for improvement. How can the 49ers get better through the draft? Let’s find out.
