Miami Dolphins 7-round 2020 NFL mock draft: Building a strong base
While we hammered away at the offensive tackle position earlier in this 2020 NFL mock draft, the Miami Dolphins still need some help on the interior. Darryl Williams is a particular late-round prospect who would make sense for this team.
Williams played both guard and center in college and should be able to handle either position at the next level as well. He shows impressive on-field awareness and is powerful at the point of attack. He is not the most fleet of foot up front, but Williams is a rock-solid interior offensive line prospect who could come in and make an immediate impact.
Geno Stone is a guy who just always seems to be around the ball. He is an extremely smart defensive back who always puts himself in a position to make a play. Stone is also a tough and physical player who tackles extremely well in space.
Stone is not the most dynamic athlete on the back-end, but his impressive on-field awareness typically makes up for it. He shows good instincts and ball skills in zone coverage, especially when playing toward the line of scrimmage.
Even if Stone cannot get into the defensive mix right away, his physicality and ability to tackle and space would undoubtedly come in handy on special teams. I like Stone as a late-round target for the Miami Dolphins.
With their final pick of this 2020 NFL mock draft, the Dolphins add another interesting player to their secondary. Dane Jackson played well at the Senior Bowl and needs to be on the radar as a potential late-round steal. He shows good overall athleticism and does a nice job mirroring opposing receivers on the outside.
Jackson does not offer much in run support and does not attack the ball in the air particularly well. However, for a seventh-round selection, there is plenty of upside in his game.
