Miami Dolphins 7-round 2020 NFL mock draft: Building a strong base
The Miami Dolphins do not have a fourth-round selection in this 2020 NFL mock draft, but they do hold three picks in the fifth round. With their first of three fifth-round selections, the Dolphins snag Auburn defensive lineman Nick Coe.
Coe is a long and strong defensive lineman who played all across the defensive line at Auburn. He shows a relatively quick first step and is extremely powerful at the point of attack. Coe is a raw talent who needs to refine his game in order to reach his ceiling. However, he is undoubtedly a guy worth taking a chance on in this range.
The Miami Dolphins address their defensive backfield here with their next fifth-round selection. Jordan Fuller is an extremely athletic safety prospect who shows impressive range on the back-end. He breaks on the ball well in coverage and does a nice job of tracking the ball in the air. Fuller is also a solid man-to-man defender who can handle some reps in the slot. Nice value selection for Miami here.
Collin Johnson is an impressive 6-foot-6, 220-pound receiver who is impressive at the catch point. He is a big and strong receiver who uses his body extremely well to shield defenders away from the ball. Johnson is a strong jump-ball receiver who is particularly impressive in red-zone situations.
While his size and ability to go up and get the ball are what stand out the most in Johnson’s game, do not discount his overall athletic ability. Johnson is a smooth and athletic receiver who also shows some nice deep speed. His change of direction quickness is less than ideal, but his combination of size and speed makes him an interesting player at the wide receiver position.
