Miami Dolphins 7-round 2020 NFL mock draft: Building a strong base

A quarterback’s best friend is a strong running game and J.K. Dobbins is one of the best running backs in this draft class. He had a fantastic 2019 season at Ohio State and should be considered a fringe first-round prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft. In this 2020 NFL mock draft, Dobbins does slide to the second round, but the Dolphins scoop him up early.

Dobbins shows an impressive combination of quickness and power at the running back position. He also shows strong ball carrier vision and works through traffic extremely well. Dobbins does a great job of finding the hole quickly and is naturally elusive in the open field. He also plays with a low center of gravity on contact, making him an extremely difficult player to tackle 1v1.

Dobbins also shows soft hands and impressive run after catch ability. He is also a strong pass protector who is not afraid to stick his nose in there and help give the quarterback an extra second to throw the ball. Simply put, Dobbins is an extremely talented and well-rounded running back who has obvious upside at the next level. On top of that, having Dobbins in the mix would undoubtedly help Tagovailoa have success early in his NFL career.
