Miami Dolphins 7-round 2020 NFL mock draft: Building a strong base
The Miami Dolphins also hold the 26th pick of the first round. This pick came in as part of the compensation from the Laremy Tunsil trade with the Houston Texans. Tunsil is one of the best, young offensive tackles in the NFL, but the Dolphins receiving two first-round picks and a second-round selection in exchange for him proved to be too much to pass up.
In this 2020 NFL mock draft, the Miami Dolphins use one of those picks to try to replace Tunsil. Houston offensive tackle Josh Jones is the pick at 26 for Miami.
Jones is a bit rough around the edges, but he shows an impressive combination of length and athleticism at offensive tackle that will play at the next level. Jones moves extremely well for an offensive lineman, getting out into space and regularly making blocks down-field in the run game and mirroring opposing edge rushers extremely well in pass protection.
He also shows a nasty streak at times, looking to bury the opposing defender after getting locked on. Jones shows good power at the point of attack and does a great job of keeping his feet moving throughout the block in the run game.
While he is a bit of a raw player, Jones has the necessary skill-set to be a strong starting offensive tackle at the next level. He showed off his impressive overall skill-set at the Senior Bowl and should now be considered an obvious first-round selection. In this 2020 NFL mock draft, the Miami Dolphins snag Jones as a premier protector for Tua for many years to come.
