Who will the Houston Texans select in the 2020 NFL Draft with a limited group of picks?

It was a wild 2019 season for the Houston Texans, from training camp all the way up to their elimination at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Their season started with a plethora of trades. On August 31st, the Texans officially traded for Miami Dolphins tackle Laremy Tunsil and wide receiver Kenny Stills. They gave up their first-round picks in the 2020 and 2021 NFL Draft, along with a 2021 second-round pick and tackle Julie’n Davenport.

That same day, they shipped off Jadeveon Clowney to the Seattle Seahawks for a third-round pick, Barkevious Mingo, and Jake Martin. The Texans also unloaded offensive lineman Martinas Rankin to Kansas City for running back Carlos Hyde after Lamar Miller went down for the season.

Unloading all of those picks puts the Houston Texans in a poor spot for the next couple of drafts. The good news is that GM Bill O’Brien and head coach Bill O’Brien will be on the same page. The bad news is that their recent draft history hasn’t been great.

The priority for the Texans should be continuing to retool their offensive line. They’ll want to give Tytus Howard and Max Scharping time, but protecting quarterback DeShaun Watson is crucial. Adding someone else to the fold has to be part of the off-season plan. The secondary should be a priority as well, especially with Jonathan Joseph entering free agency.
