2020 NFL Draft Big Board: Ranking the Top 10 EDGE defenders
By Ian Higgins
Jon Greenard is an undersized (6-foot-3, 263 pounds) 3-4 outside linebacker out of Florida who brings late rushes and can sometimes create clear rushing lanes with fake dropbacks into coverage. Greenard does not demonstrate any special ability to rush the passer but is used best as a utility player on the edge to play against the run and cut down angles for ball carriers.
Greenard is a sure tackler in space, able to position himself in the best place to prevent anything from bouncing to the outside and creating a chunk play. He is not extremely productive rushing the passer like some of his colleagues but adds a valuable utility with his discipline and game sense.
Similarly to Alabama teammate Lewis, Anfernee Jennings is a 3-4 outside linebacker who specializes in the speed rush to beat tackles to the outside. Jennings may not have the same arsenal of pass-rush moves as Lewis, but possesses a similar level of athleticism with his burst off of the line of scrimmage.
Another aspect of Jennings’ game is his ability to drop back into coverage, able to play both the flat and a middle hook zone. Few prolific edge rushers are able to contribute in pass coverage as well, making Jennings a day one contributor for passing downs.
