Fully intending on pulling the trigger on a wide receiver with my second pick, it just so happened that USC tackle Austin Jackson was on the board.

While I believe Tristan Wirfs has some positional versatility, I think Jackson projects best as a tackle at the next level and I would love to see the Broncos be able to land him (or someone like Josh Jones) in the second round after drafting Wirfs in the first round.

I’m definitely on board the ‘draft a wide receiver at 15′ train for the Broncos, but if a scenario like this presents itself, how do you say no?

Tackle could be the Broncos’ top need in 2021, so while Jackson may not pay immediate dividends, he will be utilized no later than 2021 and could be a much better starting left tackle in the NFL than Garett Bolles has been/will be.

This, to me, is not so much killing a need with fire as it is a tremendous value and would give the Broncos such great flexibility on their line going forward.
