There’s no doubt about the fact that the Broncos need help on the offensive line.

Left tackle Garett Bolles has been a penalty machine since he came into the league, the team may have to cut starting right guard Ron Leary due to performance/cap issues, center Connor McGovern is a pending free agent, and right tackle Ja’Wuan James missed all of last season with nagging knee injuries.

Mike Munchak has work to do with this unit in Denver, but not all hope is lost.

If the Broncos could land someone like Tristan Wirfs, I think it keeps their options open as far as what to do later in the draft.

Wirfs may project best to the next level as an offensive guard, and in this scenario, he could fit in perfectly for the Broncos in his first season as a right guard, then could possibly transition at any time to left or right tackle depending on how Bolles plays this year, if James can stay healthy, etc.

Wirfs is a big, powerful, athletic dude who is already well-coached coming out of Iowa. He’s got the look of a longtime starter on the offensive line and he would have a great coach, probably the best offensive line coach in the NFL, in Denver.
