2020 NFL Draft: Justin Herbert leads the 2020 All-Senior Bowl Team
EDGE: Bradlee Anae, Utah
Bradlee Anae put together a great week at the Senior Bowl, and that’s nothing to those who have studied him already. Anae is a technician as an edge rusher, with great hand usage and plenty of moves in his repertoire. He wreaked havoc in the game Saturday as well.
EDGE: Jason Strowbridge, North Carolina
One of the more intriguing prospects by the end of the week, North Carolina’s Jason Strowbridge weighed in at 267 pounds, which put him in the tweener category on the defensive line. His quickness at that size helped him dominate during the practices, especially on the interior. Strowbridge may work best as an interior pass rusher at the next level.
DL: Javon Kinlaw, South Carolina
Kinlaw almost won the week during weigh-ins, where he came in at 315 pounds and an 84-inch wingspan. Kinlaw showed his quickness and ability as a pass rusher early on in practice and was so dominant that an early exit with an injury on day two didn’t matter.
DL: Davon Hamilton, Ohio State
This was a tougher decision, especially with Neville Gallimore as an option. However, Davon Hamilton looked better overall. He won with his lower body strength in ones and looked great getting off blocks in 11s.
LB: Josh Uche, Michigan
Boy what a week for Josh Uche. His flashes rushing the passer during the 2019 season showed up at the Senior Bowl. He showed great bend around the edge, but what was even more impressive was his ability to cover tight ends in space.
LB: Akeem Davis-Gaither, App State
Like Uche, Akeem Davis-Gaither did some work on the edge during the season, but he will be a linebacker in the NFL. His athleticism was on display in Mobile covering tight ends and running backs.
CB: Darnay Holmes, UCLA
The cornerback group lost some talent in the weeks leading up to the Senior Bowl, but there were still some standouts. UCLA corner Darnay Holmes looked great mirroring receivers in coverage and was the only corner who could hang with Van Jefferson.
CB: Troy Pride Jr., Notre Dame
Troy Pride Jr. was the best cornerback in Mobile during the week. There were some concerns on tape, but his physicality wasn’t understated. He rerouted receivers with his ability in press and was great breaking up passes at the catch point.
Safety: Kyle Dugger, Lenoir-Rhyne
Kyle Dugger was perhaps the best defender during the week. The small school kid dominated in coverage against tight ends and looked good at either safety spot. He also worked on special teams returning punts.
Safety: Jalen Elliott, Notre Dame
Jalen Elliott moved around a lot during practices. He took reps at both corner and safety and excelled in both spots. He has the quickness to recover and enough range on the back end.
Flex: Dane Jackson, Pitt
Dane Jackson had a solid week down in Mobile at corner. While he struggled on a few reps, Jackson showed a great ability to recover and make plays. He has a great knack for playing the slot, somewhere we could see him on Sundays.
