Defensive End. Nick Bosa. player. Scouting Report. 2. 42. Pick Analysis. Ohio State

Original pick: Nick Bosa, Defensive End, Ohio State

Can you believe the San Francisco 49ers team that we have watched throughout the 2019 regular season and playoffs had the second-worst record in the league last season? What an incredible turnaround that GM John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan have led. Now Super Bowl-bound, I’m sure they’re thanking their lucky stars that Arizona stayed with their initial selection.

Nick Bosa’s impact has been felt early and often all season long. Throughout the first half of the season, Bosa was disrupting a ton of plays but wasn’t quite posting impressive stats for the box score. But he always jumped off the screen when you watched the Niners play and eventually the sacks and tackles for loss started rolling in.

The favorite for NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year ended the 2019 regular season with nine sacks, 47 combined tackles, 16 tackles for loss and 25 QB hits. He also added an interception, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. Bosa proved that he is a dynamic playmaker on the defensive side of the ball and will be a building block for a stout San Francisco defense for years to come.

The 2019 NFL Draft had a lot of solid, productive defensive line prospects, but Nick Bosa is pretty clearly the best of the bunch. Really the only question is where he ranks among his Ohio State teammates, brother Joey Bosa and 2020 NFL Draft prospect Chase Young. The 49ers are glad to have him on their side and hope he proves to be the best of that bunch as well.
