2019 NFL Draft: First-round re-draft where Patriots and Steelers grab QBs
Original pick: Dexter Lawrence, Defensive Lineman, Clemson
Using the first-round pick that they acquired from the Cleveland Browns in the Odell Beckham Jr. trade, the New York Giants drafted Clemson big man Dexter Lawrence. At 6-foot-4 and 342 lbs, Lawrence is a monster in the middle and a solid anchor to build around for the Giants defensive line.
Lawrence got home for just 2.5 sacks but totaled nine QB hits. He also added 38 total tackles, playing more and more snaps throughout the season. It isn’t a flashy pick, but Lawrence is a very good young player. If they are able to resign Leonard Williams, who they traded for at the 2019 trade deadline, the Giants will have a very solid and versatile front that could just use a talented edge rusher or two to really wreak havoc.
Original pick: Garrett Bradbury, Center, NC State
This was an outstanding pick for the Minnesota Vikings in the 2019 NFL Draft. Center is often overlooked when discussing the most important positions in football and the Vikes nabbed a very good one in Garrett Bradbury.
Bradbury started every game at center for the Vikings, who boasted one of the best all-around offenses in the NFL. Often leading the way for Dalvin Cook or making sure pass protection is in place for Kirk Cousins and the passing attack, Bradbury was very important to the success that Minnesota had this season, and I don’t see him going anywhere in this redraft.
