Two-round 2020 NFL mock draft: Where will the top players land?
Gone are the days of the Legion of Boom. Seattle’s secondary hasn’t been feared in at least the last few years and it’s time to start building it back up. TCUs Jeff Gladney could be a nice starting piece for the secondary.
Gladney is not a physical cornerback, but he does have great athletism. He’s 6-foot and about 180 pounds. He does have a long frame but needs to add some strength. He shows commitment to being a tackler, consistently stepping up against the run. He wraps up receivers in open field not letting them gain more yards after the catch.
Gladney could improve at the line of scrimmage as he allows the receiver to gain position too easily. He had five career interceptions at TCU, with one of them coming in 2019.
The Ravens could have gone wide receiver here, but after losing C.J. Mosley last season in free agency it was clear that was a big hole in the middle of their defense. The best linebacker available is Oklahoma’s Kenneth Murray.
Murray is a very good athlete that will wrack up tackles. He may not be the player Mosley is in coverage but he could be a nightmare for opposing running backs. I would not be surprised if Murray led the Ravens defense in tackles next season as a rookie.
The Titans may have found their quarterback for next season as Ryan Tannehill had a breakout season that led them to the playoffs. They’ll have to resign Derrick Henry who carried them to the AFC Championship game in order for them to find any success again next season.
Tennessee has Cameron Wake but he’ll be 38 at the end of January. They severely need help at pass rusher. Penn State defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos could be just what they need. He finished his 2019 season with 9.5 sacks but has the potential to increase that total on the Titans defensive line.
