LSU. 24. 15. Pick Analysis. Patrick Queen. player. Scouting Report. Linebacker

The Saints have few questions on the offensive side of the ball, but Teddy Bridgewater is set to become a free agent and Drew Brees‘ time is dwindling. Taysom Hill is a nice story, but he’s not a starting quarterback, no matter how many times he throws the football on trick plays.

The defense is a different story. Demario Davis has had a mid-career renaissance. He’s never shown the ability to play at a high level until he returned to the Jets and had career numbers. The Jets opted not to retain him due to his age, high price and the fact that he never replicated his performance before. So, he signed with New Orleans and got even better.

The Saints still need to pair him with a capable linebacker that is younger and quicker than he is. Patrick Queen has seen a meteoric rise to the first round after an impressive playoff showing. He’s very athletic and has sideline to sideline speed that Davis also has. This duo could be one of the best linebacker pairings in the league.

Pick Analysis. Cornerback. Alabama. Trevon Diggs. player. 60. Scouting Report. 25

Minnesota had a very impressive 2019 season, mainly due to running back Dalvin Cook carrying their offense. Kirk Cousins did show he could make plays when needed though and he did just that against the Saints in the playoffs. What the Vikings seem to be lacking is a starting cornerback opposite Xavier Rhodes. Trae Waynes has been a disappointment and he’s set to become a free agent and I highly doubt they’ll resign him.

Trevon Diggs is a zone cornerback but he can thrive in press coverage. He is physical when pushing the receiver off his route then dropping back into his zone. He has good size to match up against boundary receivers. He needs to improve his tackling, but that could be fixed with coaching.

It would be a mistake to play him in off coverage where he tends to get beat a ton. He could be a solid number two corner if he stays on his side of the field. Diggs would also be teammates with his brother Stefon Diggs.

Pick Analysis. Running Back. J.K Dobbins. 26. Scouting Report. Ohio State. player. 59

The Dolphins land a weapon for their new franchise quarterback. J.K Dobbins had by far the best season at running back for the Ohio State Buckeyes. This isn’t a pressing need for Miami, but when a player like Dobbins is available you do not pass up the opportunity to draft him.

Dobbins was the engine for the Buckeyes offense where everything ran through him. Every time he was on the field there was a possibility that he could take it to the house. So even if it wasn’t a run the opposing team had the box stacked leaving the receivers matched up in one on one coverage.

Dobbins has great vision as a ball carrier and will hit the hole hard once he finds the opening. He has the ability to catch out of the backfield getting his head around quickly before securing the catch. His pass blocking is adequate enough to translate to the next level. Having Dobbins will allow DeVante Parker a lot more one on one coverage as defenses bring an extra defender up to defend Dobbins.
