Wide receiver Denzel Mims significantly boosted his 2020 NFL Draft stock during Senior Bowl week.

With Senior Bowl week behind us, it is time to take a step back and see take a look at the players who helped or hurt their 2020 NFL Draft stock. These guys came in and competed hard all week and many of these prospects must be extremely happy with their decision to go down to Mobile. Former Baylor wide receiver Denzel Mims is among the players who increased their stock the most.

Mims only caught one pass for 13 yards in the game, but he was the talk of the Senior Bowl throughout the week, consistently receiving praise from media members in Mobile. Just a quick search of his name on Twitter will flood your screen with seemingly every media member in the draft community raving about what Mims what able to do in practices.

Mims abused defensive backs all weeks as the clips below show:

He is a big (nearly 6-foot-3, 206 pounds) and powerful wide receiver who has always impressed at the catch point. Mims goes up and gets the ball extremely well and has a knack for coming away with the catch in traffic. He also has a wide catch radius which could make him particularly appealing for teams with quarterbacks who struggle with accuracy.

Mims did flash some explosive speed on tape, gliding down the sideline and separating on the deep ball, but at the Senior Bowl, he seemed even more explosive. This guy has some legitimate deep speed and impressive burst off of the snap to go with it. It does not take Mims long to get to full speed.

At the Senior Bowl, Mims also looked like a much cleaner and smoother route runner than he does on tape. He seems to have learned how to create separation at the line of scrimmage and work his routes to find space. Mims also understands how to position his body correctly and get in the proper spot to make the catch.

We knew that Mims was an impressive size/speed receiver coming into the week, but he significantly boosted his 2020 NFL Draft stock by becoming a more complete receiver. Mims is an incredibly talented prospect who undoubtedly has a high ceiling at the next level. This deep wide receiver class will make it difficult for him to rise too far up the boards, but he undoubtedly has a chance to go in the second round now.

With a strong performance at the NFL Scouting Combine, Mims could start getting some consideration as a late first-round pick. A week ago, that would have seemed crazy.
