The Dallas Cowboys could use some depth at receiver and Ohio State’s K.J. Hill could be a sneaky pick here in the fourth round. Yes, I said earlier I’d like to see Dallas run more 12 personnel, but they’ll still be running some spread which is where Hill would come in. I fully expect Randall Cobb to return, but I see K.J. Hill more of a replacement for Tavon Austin.

The Ohio State wide receiver could be what Tavon Austin was for Dallas, but better. He’s dynamic after the catch and can get open underneath using pure speed. He’s really talented at improvising as he breaks off his route to find the open space in the defense. Dallas could run the end around with Hill as well.

He can also be a big game-changer on special teams as a kick returner and punt returner if you need a big play. Giving Prescott another weapon at his disposal isn’t too bad either.

I guess the Dallas Cowboys are making a run on Ohio State players, which isn’t a bad idea. Dallas as some issues to work through up front. Trysten Hill, who was Dallas’ first selection last season in the second round, has been a huge disappointment. He’s had trouble on the field, but also has been terrible off the field. He’s routinely inactive probably due to consistently being late to meetings and even flat out missing them.

Antwaun Woods, Dallas’ starting nose tackle, is an ERFA, which means the Dallas Cowboys must tender him a contract. That’s a no brainer, but even with Woods back in the fold the Cowboys still need more big bodies up front.

Davon Hamilton has been a monster up front for the Ohio State Buckeyes. In 2019 Hamilton totaled a career-high six sacks. He totaled 28 tackles, 18 solo and 9.5 tackles for loss. Adding that kind of production would not mean good news for Hill.

At 6-foot-4 and 310 pounds, Hamilton can be the anchor of the Dallas Cowboys defense. He and Woods could make it a nightmare for opposing running backs.

The defense has been a priority for the Dallas Cowboys in this mock draft. I believe Dallas has the offensive talent to win a Super Bowl, but they must heavily improve the defense. I gave them two secondary pieces and an anchor on the defensive line already. With their last pick in the draft, the Dallas Cowboys get some real versatility in Michigan’s Khaleke Hudson.

Khaleke Hudson is a big name right now down in Mobile at the Senior Bowl. He can play linebacker or defensive back. He has also seen time as an edge rusher. He will likely be a box safety at the next level but team will study him immensely during the draft process.

He has the ability to play nickel corner in sub packages, however, his man coverage skills are not great. Hudson also has the ability to come down and play either Will or Sam linebacker. He likely won’t stay at one single position throughout the game. So why is he still available in the seventh round? Well, it’s still early in the draft process and there are some questions in his game.

Khaleke Hudson does not have a set position and some teams may not see that as versatility but may see him as a tweener. He’s not very athletic despite him playing multiple positions. Teams will question his size (6-foot, 220 pounds) which is a bit big for a defensive back yet pretty light for a linebacker.

NFL Teams may draft him to a set position and ask him to either drop weight to play as a safety or to put on some more weight to play as a linebacker. Personally, I’d keep him at his current weight but work on his agility more. Hudson can be a key player on special teams as the team figures out what exactly his role could be on defense.
