Cincinnati Bengals 7-round 2020 NFL mock draft: Senior Bowl value picks
Akeem Davis-Gaither has a chance to become a fast-riser throughout the draft process and could easily be off of the board by now in the actual 2020 NFL Draft. He is an extremely athletic and explosive linebacker prospect who will likely show well at the Senior Bowl and is almost guaranteed to shine at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Davis-Gaither is an incredible athlete at the linebacker position. He shows tremendous natural range at the position and closes on the ball in an instant. He shows solid block shed ability and works through traffic extremely well. While he is certainly small for an NFL linebacker, Davis-Gaither is an extremely physical and shows some solid strength at the point of attack.
The Bengals did get good play out of rookie linebacker Germaine Pratt last season, but they desperately lack depth at the position, especially if they do not bring Nick Vigil back in free agency. Off-ball linebacker stands out as a major need for this team and Davis-Gaither is a true defensive playmaker who could come in and make a difference.
Davis-Gaither is an impact run defender, strong coverage linebacker and can make an impact in the blitz game. He may be required to add a few pounds to hold up at the next level, but he is an exciting linebacker prospect who fits the modern NFL extremely. The Cincinnati Bengals will undoubtedly have an eye on Davis-Gaither at the Senior Bowl this week and I would bet that he catches their eye.
